DeepSeek targets Nvidia’s programming language
AI firm DeepSeek announced that it had developed software tools for chips made by Huawei Technologies aimed at extracting the best performance from Huawei’s chips. DeepSeek said its work with Huawei offered a potential alternative to Nvidia’s CUDA, specialized software that can reach the upper limit of hardware performance. DeepSeek said its programming language, TileLang, offered a simpler programming model for instructing computers to do things. DeepSeek’s announcement follows Huawei earlier in September unveiling plans for larger, more powerful AI computing systems and new generations of its flagship Ascend chips in 2028 and 2029.
